Practice was over; they were all sweating and tired. Mizuki
had dug in his bag, looking for his cell phone. He had a missed call and two
missed text messages.
“Kazuki?” he brought his keitai closer to his face to read
the text message. They weren’t making any sense. They were short and continued
rambling on about someone named Ruka. He looked around, there was no one left,
he was the last to leave. Mizuki dialed his brother’s number and waited for him
to answer the phone. It rang a few times, he did not answer, and it went to his
voicemail. Calling again right after, Kazuki finally answered his keitai.
Kazuki jolted up from his bed, sitting up excitedly. It was
as if he had some big news to tell his brother.
“Nii chan!” He shouted into the phone happily. “How are
you?” his voice was happy and cheerful, today must have been a good day for
him.
“Kazuki what's up?” Mizuki packed up his belongings and left
the rehearsal studio. His backpack was slung over his shoulder and held there
comfortably. “I'm good I just got off dance rehearsal.” Though he had rarely
talked to his brother his since he had to permanently leave their household.
Kazuki leaned over his knees and chuckled lightly.
“You know all those murders that have been happening lately?
My friend knows who’s been doing it.” He smiled triumphantly and waiting for
his brother’s opinion.
Just as he left through the glass doors of the building he
stopped in his tracks, speechless. Mizuki stood blankly, looking at his phone a
couple of times. Taking in a deep breath he spoke. Everyone knew of the murder
cases, and they knew that the detectives say it is an ongoing case.
“What?” He was still in shock. “Who is it?” he needed to
know now. Fill his, along with everyone else’s curiosity.
Kazuki paused, raising his older brother’s tension.
“His name is Ruka.” Ruka was just a friend and someone he
felt could be another brother to him, but he was not someone that could take
his real brothers place. Kazuki was young and scared to approach the police
with incomplete information like this. He had told his brother that Ruka knew
who it was, but deep down inside he knew that it wasn't true. The police had
put people like Kazuki away in jail for giving up incorrect information to the
authorities. Kazuki did not want that happening to him or his friends.
Kazuki fell silent for a moment, waiting for his brother’s
reaction again. Mizuki started walking again, thinking his younger brother was
lying about this, he did have a history of lying to get others to pay attention
to him.
“Yeah right. Who is this Ruka person anyways?” Mizuki may have not been around as a brother as often anymore, but he still cared for his younger brother’s well being.

He didn't believe him? Of course he wouldn't. This was big
news all around the city, why would he make up such a big lie to tell to his
brother.
“I'm serious nii chan!” he stood up on his bed, as it he
were making a speech. “Ruka is someone that is living with us. He knows who is
doing this nii. I swear!” he was shouting now, hoping he could make his point
seem more serious.
Mizuki pulled his keitai from his ear, glaring at it as if
his brother could see.
“Prove it. I want to ask him myself.” He spoke with the
phone to his mouth and not to his ear. “Let me meet him some time toutou.” He
left off to the bus stop, waiting to go back to Mikiya's house, seeing as he
didn't want to wait for Mizuki to be finished with packing his bag.
Kazuki smiled and nodded even though his brother could not
see him.
“I’ll show you sometime nii chan! I swear!” He smiled and
dove back into bed, under the covers. “I'm going to go to sleep now nii chan.
Oyasumi nasai.” He buried his face into his pillow cutely.
Mizuki nodded and made a small sound.
“Okei. Oyasumi nasai Kazuki.” He clicked his phone off and
slipped it into his bag again. He stood at the bus stop sign, staring at the schedule
from the location he was at. “EH!” Mizuki dropped his shoulders and walked away
from the bus stop with heavy, stomping feet. There was no bus from that
location until the next day, Mizuki assumed that Mikiya knew that and drove off
without him on purpose.
