From the echoing hallway, the sound of an
electric guitar out of an amplifier could be heard quietly, playing an original
rock tune. It was weeks after their final interview and Miku was his normal,
quiet self, sitting in his room, practicing playing his instruments. At a young
age, Miku had been taught how to play a various range of instruments. His
favorite out of all of these was his life, the electric guitar. A passion grew
in him, a calling for him to play for basically the rest of his life. In his
room there were a few guitars on display in the very corner next to his dark
wood desk, the rest remained in their cases in his closet. In the mix of
instruments was one single bass guitar. It had been well used and yet it was somehow
still in very good condition. After finding his passion, the bass was
self-taught. This day, he played a new tune; playing the vocal notes of a new
song he had written the week before.
At the end of the hall, he knew that's where Miku always
liked to his room to be, but to Rin, someone being alone all the time was not
good for the health. He stopped outside Miku’s door; he was hesitant in
knocking at it, hoping he wouldn't get mad at him for interrupting.
“Miku?” he called out first, Rin had hoped that he would not
have heard his name being called. The next moment the soft music had stopped
playing Rin had gasped, he knew that Miku had heard him calling. Cocking his head
back slightly, he knocked on the door with one knuckle, his voice softening.
“Ryuu and I are going to the beach, did,” he paused a moment, knowing Riku’s
answer already. “Did you want to come?” He asked anyways just to be polite.
The sound of the guitar being placed back in its stand was
softly heard from behind the door. The door was then slowly opened; Miku's
narrow, obviously beautiful Asian eyes peeked out innocently. He remained
silent for a moment, biting his bottom lip softly.
“The beach?” Miku paused a moment, looking at the carpeted
floor. He had thought a little to himself. Rin had not done his part in
cleaning the house like he said he would, he had promised that he would vacuum
the floor yet it never happened. “I would like to go, yes.” His deep, almost
foreign like voice was soft and shy. Miku normally never talked unless his
other friends were around; the friends as to which he was more comfortable
speaking with.
A surprised yet content smile spread widely across Rin’s
lips. He clapped his hands together in an excited stance. It was great news to
hear that Rin actually wanted o do something with them.
“That's great Miku. Well hurry up and get ready, we’re going
to leave soon.” Rin knocked on the door again before darting off down the hall
to the kitchen to finish the snack preparations.
Rin had a small thermal bag filled with three small bottles
of sweetened tea and a half a dozen Onigiri for their quick snacks; they were
small yet they were very filling.
Miku closed the door slowly, turning the handle as he did to
lessen the noise. His hand pressed against the edge of the door, guiding it
gently to its closed position again.
“Why did I say yes?” Miku spoke softly to himself,
whispering over his breath. He seemed almost sad, but he was anything but; in
actuality, Miku was a very happy person. Pressing his back to the door, he
leaned his head back, closing his apparent Asian eyes softly. He wanted to go,
fresh air and maybe a gentle tan would be nice, but the fear of all these
murders lately had him worried to go outside these days. Miku looked for his
swim trunks, which he found at the bottom of his bottom drawer of his single
dresser. It was obvious that they would have been there, considering that they
have not been used in some time.
After a short search, he found a nice, large beach towel and
his iPod and headphones, two necessities he could never could go without. He
was going out, but had no intention with interacting with strangers; it was not
in the contract to do so yet considering he was not chosen yet to be a
celebrity. Anyone of them could be the killer and he was going to keep telling
himself that for his own safety. After his small, black Adidas bag was packed
up, he opened his bedroom door, quietly as he before, as if he was going to
sneak out of the house.
He closed his door just as gently again, facing it closely;
he contemplated if he wanted to change his mind or not. As soon as Miku turned
around about to head down the hallway, a small, cute, little boy stood right
behind him.
He had snuck up like a kitten and stood there with a bright
smile on his lips, making him look like a kitten that wanted to be pet by its
owner.
“Oh, Miku! I was just coming to ask if you wanted to come to
the beach with us!” He was bight and full of energy; his high-pitched voice
matched his cute baby-like face perfectly. “But Rin had already asked you I
see!” He hopped up, turning around before darting down the hall to the front door.
Miku had gasped, standing up stiffly on his toes. He had not
even heard that small boy walk up behind him. Rin had come from the room next
to his, closing the door loosely, leaving just a crack open. He gave Miku a
smile, heading off to the front door, gathering up with Ryuu. Miku had slung
his small bag over his shoulder, lowering his narrow, almond shaped eyes to the
floor.
“I'm coming.” No one had asked him anything, yet he spoke
softly, almost solemnly. The fear of those murders had him a little on edge for
the past couple months.
Meeting the other two by the door, they had already put
their shoes on, waiting for Miku. A pair of slip on, black sandals, a light
pair of shorts, and a light, plaid shirt, Miku had been dressed for the beach.
The three of them had left their small, one floor home, to the car off in the
parking lot off to the side. He had been of age for some time now, but Rin had
only just got his full license. Packed into the car, the three headed off to
the beach, which was over a half hour drive.
Once there, it was no disappointment. The parking lots were full;
the streets were lined with pedestrians moving from the beach to the dining
area. Ryuu had been hanging out the passenger window; smiling and waving to all
the people as they slowly passed by them. Getting good feedback, Ryuu slipped
back into his seat, happily satisfied he made others smile. Miku had been off
in his own little world, his earphones in both ears, volume up loud enough to
block out the sounds of the wind and the other two’s chitchat. He had been
sprawled out in the back seat, leaning against the door. He was calm and
collected now, music giving him a slight confidence to enjoy his day at the
beach.
After finding a spot in the parking lot near the entrance of
the beach, Rin had finally parked the car, looking to Ryuu and to the back seat
to Miku with a dorky smile on his lips. Chatting amongst each other, Ryuu and
Rin got out of the car first, walking around to the back of the car the gather
their towels and lunch. Miku had slithered out of the car, keeping quiet and to
himself; yet now only had only one headphone in his ear. Carrying his bag slung
over his shoulder, he had followed behind the other two, listening to them chat
about the possible new job they all had gotten.
